Flights Now Available to Blue Grass Airport

Good news for Kentucky-bound travelers: If you’re flying out of Philadelphia International Airport, you can now take a direct flight to the small commercial destination of Blue Grass Airport in Kentucky.

Local residents and business owners have been in need of a Philadelphia flight for over a year, and it took the administration about that long to work out the details of the service. (Philadelphia was among the top 10 most requested cities for service.) However, it wasn’t only Kentuckians that requested to go to Philadelphia - Philadelphians also put in requests for service to the Lexington destination.

Blue Grass Airport’s daily flight addition to Philadelphia gives the airport 15 direct destinations including 9 other major cities on the East Coast, three major cities in the Midwest, and two major cities in Texas.

The airport has managed to stay successful while many other commercial airports have been experiencing mergers and a loss of passengers, and (according to an article from kentucky.com) Steve Pruitt, senior finance administrator at Mapi Group in Lexington, believes the Philadelphia opportunity will help them even more.

“This helps keep the company in Lexington,” he said. “If we hadn’t gotten the (Philadelphia) flights, I don’t know where we would be five years from now.”

US Airways will be operating the flights between Lexington and Philadelphia.

If you’ve been wanting a direct flight to Lexington, now’s your chance to go! But before you do, don’t forget to make a reservation at the place with the best Philadelphia Airport parking rates in the area.
