Philadelphia Airport Parking Availability

At our Philadelphia Airport parking service, we love cruises - they’re one of the most popular vacation ideas because they offer something more than staying at a traditional hotel or bed and breakfast. Cruises let singles, couples, and families enjoy the beauty of being out on the water. When it comes to booking a cruise, however, our PHL parking members know that it can be a tough decision. That’s why we’ve compiled a list of tips and tricks to help make your trip more enjoyable. Make sure to contact us about our Philadelphia Airport parking availability before planning your trip.

When Booking a Cruise

Consider the season. Two of the most popular seasons to cruise in are during the summer and during the spring (usually over spring break). If you’re considering taking a cruise during either of these times, make sure you book it eight to 12 months in advance. Otherwise, try going in the off-season for a better deal.

Book early. As it gets closer to the departure date, cruise prices usually go up, so book your cruise as early as possible. If the price drops, you can usually take advantage of the new offer.

Take advantage of deals. Cruise deals are harder to come by than other travel deals, so if you find one like a two-for-one price or free airfare, don’t pass it up.

Factor in all costs. Before you book a cruise, make sure you consider the other costs for the trip, such as passports, souvenirs, drinks, activities, etc. That way, you’ll have a better understanding of how much you’re going to spend.

Popular Destinations

Many travelers use our Philadelphia Airport long term parking service to begin their cruise vacation, so we’ve found out where the most popular cruise destinations are and what time of year is best to go:

Europe: The best time to take a European cruise is in early June or September, when the weather is still warm. These are also good months to go because children are in school and the ship will probably be less crowded.

Mexico: If you’re interested in whale watching, take a cruise to Mexico during the winter months. Otherwise, try going in the spring when it starts to get warm.

Alaska: The availability of Alaskan cruises is limited, so the best months to go are May through September. If you want a less crowded ship, try going at the beginning or end of this timespan.

The Caribbean: Taking a Caribbean cruise in the springtime will allow you to avoid hurricane season and still enjoy warm waters. These cruises are very popular, however, so if you want to avoid a crowded ship, try going during the school year.

The Bahamas: The springtime (particularly late spring) is also a good time to take a cruise to The Bahamas. You’ll avoid hurricane season and enjoy warm waters.

Hawaii: While Hawaiian cruises are popular during the winter, Hawaii experiences the most rainfall December through March. Instead, try taking a cruise in September, October, November, April, May, or June.

Tips for Seasickness

Our Philadelphia Airport parking members know that seasickness can result in nausea, stomach cramps, headaches, and vomiting. These can all be caused by visual disorientation, choppy waters, or simply the expectation of seasickness. Here are some tips on how to cope with it:

  • Ginger root has been found to help nausea, so stock up on some ginger pills, ginger candy, or ginger tea.
  • When the ship begins to rock, don’t stiffen up, like you would instinctively. Instead, try rocking with the boat to feel less disoriented.
  • Use the horizon as your equilibrium point. To keep it in view, book a cabin with a window.
  • Instead of spending time at the front of the ship, spend your time at the back, where you’re less likely to feel movement.
  • If you feel sick, try to focus on something else. Take a nap, play a game, or just have a good conversation to take your mind off of it.
  • The lower you are, the less motion you’ll feel, so stay on the lower levels of the ship.
